Coed Varsity Band · Eagleville’s Emily Lewis to march in Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

ELEwisIt is a pleasure to announce that Emily Lewis, daughter of Scott and Angelia Lewis, has been selected to perform with the Macy’s Great American Marching Band for the 90th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Emily is a junior flutist with the Eagleville High School Band and will be marching with some of America’s finest high school musicians. This band will be comprised of select students from across the United States. The musicians are under the direction of Auburn University’s Dr. Richard Good and Assistant Director, Professor Barry Houser, from the University of Illinois. The 185 musicians will be complemented by approximately 40 flags and dancers.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is internationally recognized as the official start of the holiday season and world-famous as a uniquely American entertainment extravaganza.

Once again, this prestigious band will take an honor position among the gigantic helium balloons, impressive floats carrying celebrities, and the nation’s top marching bands. Stepping-off from Central Park, the Band will be cheered by the 3 million spectators lining the parade route. Arriving at Macy’s Herald Square, the Band will perform for celebrity hosts, a grandstand audience, and more than 50 million TV viewers watching the broadcast live on NBC on Thursday, November 24th, 2016.

In addition to marching in the parade, members will arrive the week before the parade rehearsing and also spend time in New York City sightseeing.

Emily is the first Eagleville student to achieve this honor.
